14U Nationals Duals Greco-Roman All Tournament Team

The 2023 14U National Duals Greco-Roman All-Tournament team has been announced, based upon results from the 14U National Duals Greco-Roman division, held in Oaks, Pa.., on Thursday and Friday

Athletes who went undefeated in their dual meet matches in Greco-Roman qualified for the All-Tournament Team, needing a minimum of five victories to be included.

In Greco-Roman, there were 60 athletes on the All-Tournament Team, representing 24 different states. Maryland had the most on the All-Tournament Team with six. Tennessee, New York and Iowa all had five on the team. Pennsylvania and Minnesota each had four on the team. Those with three on the All-Tournament Team were Indiana, Arkansas and Ohio. Six states had two All-Tournament athletes: Georgia, Idaho, Florida, Michigan, Alabama, Oklahoma and Illinois. Teams with one on the All-Tournament Team are Florida, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Missouri, Washington, Louisiana and Colorado.

Winning the most matches of the undefeated Greco-Roman athletes with perfect 9-0 records were Sully Marx of Minnesota (97), Hendrix Schwab of Iowa (102) , Mathew Prine of Iowa (106) , Gage Bjerga of Minnesota (106) , Weston Porter of Iowa (110) , Parker Casey of Iowa (149) , Joe Constable of Iowa (187), Owen Johnson of Minnesota (187) and Andrew Olson of Minnesota (250).

There were 21 athletes who finished with an 8-0 record. Among them was Taina Fernandez of Maryland (125), who is one of the nation’s best girl wrestlers, currently ranked No. 3 in the National Girls High School Rankings at her weight class. For a girl to make a National Duals All-Tournament Team in Greco-Roman at this age-level is very rare indeed.
