Florida Super 32 Early Entry Boys Tournament Results
Before we delve into this one, let’s bring up the number of participants per bracket in the state of Florida. This was a big event in the state of Florida over the weekend. It appears this is the biggest Super 32 qualifier that we have covered to date in 2023. Even at the heavier weights during football season the numbers are larger than the other qualifiers covered. Below is the number of participants per division. Today we will cover high school boys folkstyle 106 pounds to 285 pounds.

After placing 4th at 3A 106 pounds at the Florida state championships this past winter, Malachi Ortiz left no doubt that he is on the rise. Going 6-0 on the day. Edging last winter’s 14u 110-pound Florida state champion Keagan Mesina 5-4 in the semifinals prior to defeating Elijah Hattaway from Georgia by decision 8-0 in the finals. Lucas Barrios who won the middle school 105-pound division competed hard in the high school division on the day. Going 3-2 on the day with his first loss coming at the hands of Mesina in sudden victory overtime and his second came at the hands of 4th place finisher Jake Giovino in a tight 1-0 decision. Liam Davis was seeded number 2 coming into the event. Davis over the summer went 8-1 at the 16u cadet national freestyle duals and went on a run from the start. Outscoring his opponents 66-18 in route to a 1st place finish. Davis had back-to-back tech falls with over 20 points scored in each match. Following this he would pickup wins by pin and major decision leading into a finals match against Jasper Croom. Last winter Croom placed 5th at 1A 106-pounds at the Florida state championships. Carmen French from Charlotte High School was another number 2 seed to win the tournament at 120-pounds. French would begin the day with back-to-back pins prior to defeating Bruce Li by 6-1 decision in the round of 16. Next French would go on to pin last season’s 2A 120-pound state placer Coby Shields in the quarterfinals. French would then pick up a major decision victory over another Florida state placer Raymond Cavey 11-3 punching his ticket to the finals. The name that jumped off the page at 126 was Jovani Solis. Solis won the 1a 113-pound Florida state championship this past winter and went a combined 18-0 at the 14u schoolboy freestyle/Greco national duals this summer. Solis was dominant early during the tournament with three straight pins. In the quarterfinals Charlie De Sena dropped a sudden victory match to Solis 3-1. Solis would then pick up and pin in the semifinals to punch his ticket to the finals. During the finals match, Maximus Brady pushed Solis to his limit. Last winter’s 2A 132-pound Florida state champion Jayce Paridon began the day as the number 1 seed and didn’t disappoint. Beginning the day with back-to-back pins, Paridon would pick up a 10-2 major decision over Anthony Dicks in the quarterfinals before defeating Christopher Williams from Georgia by tech fall in the semifinals. In the finals Paridon would meet Dillon Smith from Miami. Paridon would pick up the 1st place finish with an 8-0 major decision. Smith had a great day in his own right. Going 4-1 on the day with wins over Florida state placers Gregory Mendez and Adriel Pina. Below are the top 4 finishers at 132 pounds.

Colin Kacena may have started the day as the number 1 seed, but Mikel Pierce Walker would have something to say about that in the semifinals at 138-pounds. Walker would begin the day in the middle of the bracket but would pick up a big win in the quarterfinals over Florida state placer Malikai Badillo by 11-3 major decision, and edge out number 1 seed Kacena 3-2 in the semifinals. Walker would then go on to defeat Cole O’Brien 9-2 in the finals. Anthony Santos, last year’s 7A 132-pound state placer from Georgia, had a good day. Florida freestyle/Greco state champion Zeno Moore began the day as the number 1 seed and would pick up wins by pin in his first-round match and the next two by tech fall prior to the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals last winter’s Florida state placer Austin Chung would knock off Moore via pin. Chung would then defeat Mason Basile via a 9-1 major decision in the semifinals before meeting last season’s Florida 2A 138-pound state champion Draven McCall in the finals. Last winter’s 2A 152-pound Florida state champion Gianni Maldonado began the day as the number 1 seed. Maldonado would prove this to be the right call. Back-to-back pins to begin the day, Maldonado would then defeat Florida state placer Frankie Florio in the quarterfinals 7-3 and Jose Gutierrez 5-2 in the semifinals. In the finals Maldonado would meet Kawayran Vazquez who won this event in the middle school division a year ago. Maldonado would defeat Vazquez 5-1 in route to a 1st place finish. Beginning the day in the middle of the bracket, Hodge would pickup three straight wins prior to meeting last year’s 3A 152-pound Florida state placer Gavin Balmeceda in the semifinals. Balmeceda would edge Hodge 3-2 in the tightest match Balmeceda would have on the day. Balmeceda would win the 157-pound bracket with a 14-3 major decision over Elijah Alvarez in the finals. Vincent Donatelle had a good tournament. Beginning in the middle of the pack, Donatelle would go 4-1 on the day making it to the finals before dropping the finals match to Holland. Ryder Wilder. Is there anything else to say? Wilder who won last season’s 7A 175-pound Georgia state championship was DOMINANT! As of today, Wilder is 116-0 on trackwrestling while going undefeated at AAU scholastic duals and winning all three styles at southeast regionals back in May. This dominance would continue over the weekend. Wilder would have three straight first period pins before meeting Robert Kucharczk in the semifinals. Wilder would pick up an 11-3 major decision win in semifinals and then defeat Florida state placer Christopher Sanchez via 9-1 major decision in route to a 1st place finish. As stated in the beginning. The numbers were good even at the heavier weights for a preseason tournament in the middle of football season. This holds true at 215 pounds. Aidyn Wolfe, who failed to place in the Florida state tournament this past season made a name for himself over the weekend. Beginning in the middle of the pack, Wolfe would begin the day with a 12-5 win over Rourke Drake before pinning Teagen Nelson in the semifinals. In the finals, Wolfe would edge out Florida 1A 220-pound state runner-up from last season Damian Soto via sudden victory 3-1. In the biggest 285-pound bracket of any qualifier to date, last season’s Florida state placer Payton Cramer made some waves. Cramer would go 4-0 on the day. He would start the day with a tech fall win over Madden Fredenburg before picking up back-to-back pins to punch his way into the finals. In the finals Cramer would defeat Gavyn Uribes via an 8-0 major decision en route to a 1st place finish. Georgia state placer Dustin Edenfield had a good day. Edenfield dropped a close 5-2 decision in the semifinals to Uribes before picking up a pin to reach the 3rd place match.
