We covered the high school boys folkstyle brackets, now let’s look at how the girls freestyle brackets shook out at the Florida Super 32 early entry tournament.

97 pounds

Camdyn Elliott, who was a Florida girls state runner-up at 100-pounds last winter, would begin the day as the number 2 seed and would eventually meet number 1 seeded Maya Alvarado in the finals. Alvarado won the 14u Florida state championship last winter at 110-pounds. Elliott would pick up back-to-back tech falls before meeting 14u Florida state placer Abigail Gonzalez in the semifinals. Elliott would edge out Gonzalez 8-8 on criteria before defeating Alvarado 7-2 in the finals. With so many young ladies making some noise in this bracket, girls wrestling in Florida is quite healthy. Below are the top 4 finishers at 97 pounds.

1st Place - Camdyn Elliott of Well Trained

2nd Place - Maya Alvarado of Lake Highland Prep

3rd Place - Abigail Gonzalez of Miami Wrestling Club

4th Place - Miabella Lopez of SOWA

103 pounds

In one of the smaller brackets of the day, 103-pounds was led by two girls Florida state placers from a year ago, Madelyne Bombardier from Lakeland as the number 1 seed and Reagan Thomas from Naples as the number 2 seed. Thomas would have a battle in the opening round facing fellow state placer Maite Coutinho from Orlando. Thomas would edge Coutinho 4-2. Thomas would then be in for another tight match in the semifinals where she would defeat Joslyn Johnson from Palm Coast 11-7 in route to a final’s appearance. On the other side, Bombardier would grab a pin in the first round and a tech fall in the semifinals leading to a Bombardier/Thomas finals match. Thomas would grab the tech fall and win the 103-pound bracket. Below are the top 4 finishers at 103-pounds.

108 pounds

At 108-pounds Rebekkah Kinkade would go from unseeded to champion. Beginning the day knocking off number 1 seed Kendal Haynie 11-7, followed up by a pin over Adalyne Fowls from Gulf Breeze in the semifinals. Kinkade would meet another unseeded wrestler in the finals, Skyler Randolph from Lehigh Acres. Kinkade would pin Randolph at the 3:10 mark to win the 108-pound bracket. Below are the top 4 finishers at 108 pounds.

115 pounds

Spring Hill, Florida native Emma Bauknight who was a Florida girls state placer a year ago would pin her way to a 115-pound championship. Defeating fellow Florida state placer Aurora Guadiana from Palm Springs, Natalia Choquegonza from Ponre Vedra, and finally Paola Ramirez from Kissimmee in the finals. Keep an eye on Bauknight as the season approaches. Below are the top 4 finishers at 115 pounds.

123 pounds

After failing to place at the Florida girls state championships last winter, Isis Severe from Miami had a point to prove. Prove it she did. Severe had a gutsy tournament. Edging out Sydney Bridenstine from Dade City 4-2 in the opening round, followed by a 5-0 win over last year's state placer Jasmine Serrano from Spring Hill. In the finals Severe would face yet another state placer, Ana Vilar from Palm Coast. In the end Severe would knock off Vilar 7-1 to bring home the 123-pound championship. Below are the top 4 finishers at 123 pounds.

1st Place - Isis Severe of Severepain Wrestling

2nd Place - Ana Vilar of Flagler Wrestling Club

130 pounds

Another young lady made a name for herself a year after failing to place at the Florida girls state championships. Rachel Silva from Miami became the next young lady to go from unseeded to champion. In the opening round Silva would pin Isabel Alvarez from Rockledge before pinning the number 2 seed Aryana Leverock from Pinellas Park in route to a final’s appearance. In the finals Silva would meet last year’s 16u state runner-up and number 1 seed Daniela Espinal from Brooksville. Silva would pull out the tech fall to secure the 130-pound bracket. Silva defeating the number 1 and number 2 seed along the way is impressive. Especially after failing to place at the state championships last season. Keep an eye on this young lady as the winter approaches. Below are the top 4 finishers at 130 pounds.

1st Place - Rachel Silva of Casa de Lucha

2nd Place - Daniela Espinal of Hernando Wrestling Club

3rd Place - Genesis Fuentes of Team Osceola WC / Gateway

4th Place - Aryana Leverock of Impact Wrestling

3rd Place Match

Genesis Fuentes (Team Osceola WC / Gateway) won by fall over Aryana Leverock (Impact Wrestling) (Fall 1:14)

139 pounds

139 pounds was odd to say the least. Ailee Briggs from Marathon, last season’s Florida girls state runner-up, was unseeded in the middle of the backet, while the number 1 seed was pinned quickly in round 1. Briggs would grab a tech fall and a pin to punch her ticket to the finals regardless. A clash between Briggs and Florida girls state placer Bry Kaminsky from Debary was on deck in the finals, with Kaminsky edging out a tight 6-4 win. We’ll cover women’s folkstyle as well and I’m certain that Briggs and Kaminsky will cross paths again. Below are the top 4 finishers at 139 pounds.

1st Place - Bry Kaminsky of University High School

2nd Place - Ailee Briggs of lemon Bay

3rd Place - Kiley Vinson of White House

4th Place - Tj Broadnex of Gladiator Wrestling Club

3rd Place Match

Kiley Vinson (White House) won by fall over Tj Broadnex (Gladiator Wrestling Club) (Fall 0:28)

148 pounds

148 pounds was also odd. Why put a Florida girls state champion unseeded in the middle of the bracket? Mind blowing for sure, but this was the case for Kendall Bibla from St Augustine. In the end it didn’t matter as Bibla defeated Florida girls state placer Elody Rodriguez from Kissimmee 6-4, prior to defeating 16u girl’s state runner-up Kristy More from Land O’ Lakes 14-6 in the finals. I look forward to checking out folkstyle to see if a Bibla/Rodriguez rematch occurs. Below are the top 4 finishers at 148 pounds.

1st Place - Kendall Bibla of Matanzas High School

2nd Place - Kristy More of Florida Phoenix

3rd Place - Anisah Paz of SOUTH DADE / Gladiator Wrestli

4th Place - Ciara Cortez of White House

3rd Place Match

Anisah Paz (SOUTH DADE / Gladiator Wrestli) won by fall over Ciara Cortez (White House) (Fall 0:30)
