Let’s look at the top ten scoring teams from the event prior to delving into each weight class.

We all are aware now just how dominant Roundtree Wrestling Academy has become in the past several years, but the biggest surprise of the weekend came out of the state of Alabama. Stronghold Wrestling Club out of Birmingham won the event with 347.5 total team points. They would place 12 wrestlers in the top 4 and had 3 champions. Shad Rissler is really building something special down in the Yellowhammer state. Below is how the top 10 rounded out.

Stronghold Wrestling Club 347.5
Roundtree Wrestling Academy 261.5
Compound WC 178
Level Up 154
Central Carroll 91
Blackman High School 89.5
Alabama Takedown Academy 86.5
Guerilla Wrestling Academy 68
Wave Wrestling Club 55
Ironclad Wrestling 53.5

98 pounds
The 98-pound weight class was very heavy on 8th graders. A name that stood out without placing was 8th grader Steve Barrett of Roundtree. Barrett would make the semi-finals prior to being defeated by tournament champion Teequavious Mills (also of Roundtree). Barrett would then drop a match to 4th place finisher Eli Bowman of Guerrilla Wrestling Club and just missing a top 4 finish. This is a name to keep an eye on leading into the season. 7th grader Ariah Mills of Roundtree Wrestling Academy continues to impress under any situation he competes under. Appearing to be quite small for the weight class, Mills would finish 3rd after dropping a tight match to tournament runner-up Coreu Powe of Stronghold Wrestling Club 1-0 in the semi-finals. Below are the top 4 finishers at 98 pounds.
1st place – Teequavious Mills Roundtree Wrestling Academy (GA)
2nd place – Coreu Powe Stronghold Wrestling Club (AL)
3rd Place – Ariah Mills Roundtree Wrestling Academy (GA)
