Florida Super 32 Early Entry Tournament - A First Glance

Just a quick look at those registered (Girls are below the boys breakdown). Weights might change and I’m sure we will have no-shows, but this is what we have at the moment.

State by weight breakdown:

Grade by Weight Breakdown:

Looking through this quickly … these are the things that stood out to me. I’m sure I missed someone - apologies. Only 2023 State finish is posted below.

Projected seeds are based on … 1) 2023 State Tournament finish and 2) last year’s place at this tournament

Also … I don’t know the Pennsylvania, New Jersey, etc. wrestlers

We saw some changes at last weekend’s Georgia tournament - so expect the same this weekend. Also this isn’t how I would necessarily seed them (or how I think they will finish) … this is just based on the criteria - 2023 State Place and last year’s place at this tournament. All placements listed below are Florida unless otherwise mentioned.

106 lbs.

  • Large weight for 106 - 54 registered

  • Lots of freshmen, sophomores, and juniors

  • 4 Florida State Placers plus Fargo National Champ (and Florida Girls State Champ) Gabriele Tedesco (anyone that doesn’t think that Gabby can compete with this group is crazy … she’s a hammer and was the starting 106 for Lake Gibson’s boys team last year … yeah and they won a dual title)

  • 7 Florida State Qualifiers

  • The seeds should be:

    • #1 - Malachi Ortiz - 4th

    • #2 - Roderick Brown or Tim McLean - both 5th last year

    • #3 - Brown or McLean

    • #4 - Solomon Peterson

    • #5 - Gabriele Tedesco

    • #6 - Garrett Ferguson, Nathan Lyttle, Keagen Mesina, DJ Richardson, Joshua Sanchez, Alexander Schnobrick, and Cole Webb - All SQ in 2023

    • #7 - Same

    • #8 - Same

113 lbs.

  • 6 State Placers headlined by Georgia State Champ Bradley Patterson of Camden and Liam Davis of Lake Highland Prep

  • 4 other State Qualifiers

  • The seeds should be:

    • #1 Patterson

    • #2 Davis

    • #3 - Reid Yakes - 3rd

    • #4 Jasper Croom - 5th

    • #5 Paxton Hanshaw - 6th in Alabama OR Vaniel Caceres - 6th in Florida

    • #6 Hansahw or Caceres

    • #7 - Erick Vargas - 7th

    • #8 - one of the 4 State Qualifiers - Matthew Ireland, Vicnenzo Lee, Jack Oliver, or Matthew Padgett

  • NOTE: No clue how good Nate Kaiser of California is, but if he’s a hammer then he fits in somewhere above.

120 lbs.

  • 4 State Placers including Georgia State Champion Hunter Prosen, Florida Runner-up Camren French, and 2022 Florida State Champ Gabriel Tellez

    • #1 - Prosen

    • #2 - French

    • #7 Brown or Duany

Girls

The girls can wrestle in both freestyle and folkstyle. They are combined below … we are simply highlighting those that you should keep an eye on.

Nearly all of the Freestyle girls are also wrestling Folkstyle. Regardless they are combined below. These are the names we are watching … can’t wait to see who we don’t mention will surprise everyone. They are not in any specific order below … just a quick glance at girls we’ve seen compete previously (if we haven’t seen them compete previously they are not included below (or we could have missed someone)). Remember this isn’t a prediction … simply a quick look at some names to watch.
