Battery Creek sits in a unique spot … they return two absolute hammers in State Champion Gunnar DeGroat and State Runner-up Elmer Linares, but they also graduated three important pieces in Sam DeGroat, Hunter Smith, and State Placer Anthony Phelan. DeGroat and Linares will be hunting the top step individually … that isn’t in doubt, but how high the team climbs will likely come down to the development of the rest of the squad. Jordan Robinson, John Coker, and Le’Roy Tyus all compete at last year’s Lower State Tournament and will be expected to punch their ticket to the big dance in 2024. Alex Vega is another senior returner … so Battery Creek has a solid core of senior leadership and then will look to fill the other spots with some new faces. - SEWrestle
