2023 182 lb. State Champion Jessey Colas has graduated, but Coach Sharbono returns a solid core on which the pirates will look to better their 10th place finish from a year ago. State Runner-up Gage Wiggins assume the leadership role and will be hunting an individual title after coming up just short last year at 160. Matthew Ireland also returns after punching his ticket to Kissimmee in 2023 as a sophomore. Braden River has a ton of experience and a lot of new faces that will be looking to claim a spot in the lineup. Jayden Russell, Grady Murphy and Jacob Fuentes each qualified for the 2A Region 3 tournament a year ago and each will be looking to punch their ticket in 2024. Freshman Jagston Shepard transfers in after making the big dance last year as an 8th grader at Saint Stephen’s Episcopal. The Pirates also have several other freshmen that will look to challenge for a spot … keep an eye on Kaleb and Kyle King, Logan Pike, and Quinn Molesky. Braden River will once again be back in the hunt for a top 10 finish … how high they climb will likely come down to whether Ireland can make the podium and the continued development of Russell, Murphy, and others. - SEWrestle
