Huntsville returns a plethora of talent and is considered by us as the best team in Alabama. And that’s saying something in a tough 7A as well as the best teams in the other classes. But this team is special. They ran to a dual team title a year ago and finished 3rd at traditionals. They return nearly every point scorer from last year sans Todd Whitmire and return 3 individual State Champs as well as 5 other State Placers. The biggest challenge Huntsville might have is complacency as they are likely going to roll through the season … but 7A North is no joke and they must be prepared come January. I don’t know the record off the top of my head, but this year’s Huntsville squad could be in the hunt for the most individual titles by a single team. Simon x2, Ciccolella, McKinney will all be favored and Blue, Sowell, and Fields have to be amongst the favorites as well. Keep an eye on the return of senior Jay Colebaugh who missed the post-season last year due to injury. Huntsville’s hammers demand the spotlight, but keep an eye out for Matthew Hollis, Isaiah Thomas, Caleb McJunkins, Elias Steely, Jamir Jones, DJ Benjamin, Braiden Benefield, Landon Moore, Jace Laughter, and Brandon Bethea to be part of the conversation in the future. - SEWrestle
