The Blue Devils of South Lenoir lose three State Qualifiers from last year’s squad with the graduation of Yanez, Mejia, and Eli Day. Still … the Blue Devils have an opportunity to be as good or even better than they were a year ago. Chris Haro climbed onto the podium at last year’s 2A State Tournament and will be hunting the top step in 2024. Haro is joined by fellow State Qualifiers Bladen Davis and Wyatt Reavis to pack a punch at the bottom of the Blue Devil lineup. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see all three on the podium in February. The key for the team improving on their dual and traditional finishes from a year ago though fall on the continued development of Cayden Taylor, Hayden Zeagler, and Jed Day. Each just missed punching his ticket in 2023 and all three are not only looking to punch their ticket this year, but to also make the podium in Greensboro. Keep an eye on Joseph Maples, Jonas Miller, and Angel Crespo at the bottom of the Blue Devil Lineup as well as Manny Lopez, Hayden Tyndall, Pablo Garcia, and Brayden Burd in the middle. Both Connor Heath and Luke Taylor will play important roles at the top of the lineup. This team has an opportunity to push into the top 15-20 in 2A this season, but whether that happens or not will depend on how well their six hammers wrestle. - SEWrestle
