Whether you believe Camden is the best team in Georgia or not … no one denies the ability of Coach Wilder to develop talented teams that are always in the hunt for the team title. The Wildcats have won 7 State Titles in a row (at both the Traditional and Dual State Tournaments). It has become common in the last few years to watch Camden graduate a ton of State Champs or State Placers and think “this is the year that another program steps in and challenges for the title”. It simply hasn’t happened. The depth in the Camden room has to be superb because the Wildats are the epitome of a team that “reloads” and doesn’t rebuild.
It looks as if the Cats might have lost a couple of hammers, but this team is deep enough and has a host of wrestlers waiting for their shot. State Champs Riley Dahlgren and Konlin Weaver lead the way, but it is the upperweights with State Placers CahMari Johnson, Britt Blair, Deonte Dozier, and Anthony Yancey that will do much of the damage. Each of the 6 will be looking for an individual title to go along with a state title in 2022. Keep an eye on Porter Bryant, Chris Schwarting, and Eli Griffin - they are ready to step in and make the podium themselves.
