Hillcrest (SC)

Coach Esposito stepped in a year ago and the Hillcrest team didn’t miss a beat - claiming the South Carolina 5A State title over Byrnes, Northwestern, etc. They also downed Summerville to claim the 5A Dual State title as well. The Rams do lose State Champ Eyan McKnight and State Runner-up Grantt Hopkins to graduation, but return a ton of hammers and should be the team to beat again in 2021-2022.

Returning State Champ Thomas Snipes assumes the leadership role. Snipes is one of the top 138 lbers in the Southeast and will look to continue to push the Rams to be even better than they were a year ago. State Placers Colton Holmes, Jacoreyn Byrd, and Jackson Harms return and each will look to take the next step and claim the top step for themselves in 2022. Keep an eye on Tyler Grindstaff, Trent Smith, and Austin Kilgore - each qualified a year ago and will look to claim a spot on the podium in 2022.

We’ve put in a lot of work to improve in specific areas. Hopefully we see the results we are looking for in competition.
