State of the Program ... Middle Creek (NC)

Middle Creek (NC)

The Mustangs are one of the few programs (in any classification in North Carolina) that brought 14 to their regional tournament last year. In fact - just 19 programs (out of 313) that brought a full team to a regional tournament in 2021. Having that depth and experience is huge and Coach Allen and the Mustangs will use it to their advantage in 2021-2022. Like all teams - they lose some hammers to graduation (2 of their 5 State Qualifiers), but return Reid Fallows and Owen Hibberd (both qualified in 2021 - Hibberd did so as a freshman).

The key to the Mustangs success (as it is with many programs) is the development of that next tier of wrestlers - those that haven’t qualified for the state tournament (yet). Teak Walters and Grant Garey look ready to make an impact in 2022 and should be the next two Mustangs at the big dance. Keep an eye on Greg Cabezas, David Hoskins, Logan Power, Casey Box, and Max Sweitzer - each will look to make their Senior campaign one to remember.

Middle Creek is also putting in the effort to grow their women’s program … with Alice Leland and Isabella Crandell they are on their way.

Looking to to achieve big things; new conference, new season = time to shine.
