2nd Round
No surprise to see another South Dade vs. Southwet Miami showdown with a ticket to Kissimmee on the line. The Bucs started with a bang with falls from Guillermo Jaramilo and Luis Acevedo before giving up a pair of decision losses in two outstanding matches at 126 and 132. Gabriel Tellez downed Nathaniel Williams and Dillon Smith had to go to ultimate tibreaker to take out freshman Armand Williams, but Southwest was back in the mix as South Dade led 12-6 after 4 matches. Unfortunately for Southwest they couldn’t avoid falls at 138 and 144 to fall behind 24-6 after 6 matches. A solid 7-3 decision by Joshua Aviles over Iam Garcia put South Dade in command 27-6. Southwest’s Shannon Davie got the Eagle Empire 4 points with an 11-1 major, but South Dade’s hammers of Balmeceda, Olavarria, Sanchez, and Bartelt shut the door on any hopes of a Southwest win … South Dade rolls to a 60-10 win and advances to Kissimmee. Will anyone score more than 10 on the Bucs next weekend?

Doral jumped out to a solid start with a forfeit from Ruiz, a fall from Vazquez, and a 9-6 decision by DeArmas to lead 15-0 after 3 matches. Gabriel Tellez stopped that momentum quick with a fall at 126 and Angel Delgado did the same at 132 to put Southwest right back in the dual. A 7-1 win by Dillon Smith over Athan Toro knotted the dual at 15-15 after 6 matches. Jose Gutierrez and Joel Carillo would each get falls for Doral, but they would lose the other 6 matches and fall in the dual 48-27. Doral ended with 5 wins … but bonus points by Southwest would end up being huge as they rolled into a rematch with South Dade.
South Dade came in healthy and ready to go … and as a result thumped Columbus 60-9. Bryan Morales had a nice 10-0 major to get the Bucs started but it was falls from Jaramilo, Acevedo, Nathaniel Williams, Armand Williams, and a 19-3 tech fall by EJ Solis that put South Dade in control with a 33-0 lead. Arturo Sanchez had a nice sudden victory win over Jaiden Oliver at 144 and Manuel Narciso had a fall of Matthew Estevez at 157 for Columbus, but this dual was never in doubt as South Dade rolled to a rematch with Southwest Miami.
