Wellington downs Jupiter and Olympic Heights to advance

Thank you to Coach Gray at Wellington for sending the scores

Second Round

  • Wellington 37, Olympic Heights 18

Wellington vs. Olympic Heights was a rematch from earlier and this time we ended up with a different result (which isn’t entirely surprising, but also not common). Olympic Heights got out to a 6-0 lead ith a fall from Schnobrick before Gibson, Bonfante, Benedetti, Marvel, and Crum were able to get 5 consecutive decision wins for Wellington to make the score 15-6 after the first 6 matches. With 5 wins, Wellington would like to have been further ahead, but battling to get those decisions certainly put them in a good spot heading to 144 with James Kosza (who got Wellington a major decision and a 19-6 lead at the halfway point). Archambault got Olympic Heights back in the mix with a fall at 150 to make it 19-12, but another decision win for Wellington (Franco Rivas at 157) put Wellington up 22-12 (hard to imagine that Wellington had won 7 matches to this point and Olympic Heights had won 2 and the score was as close as it was). Povsic got Olympic Heights another 6 and narrowed the lead to 22-18 before Wellington secured the dual win with 3 consecutive decisions at 175, 190, and 215. A fall at 285 for Wellington put the final score 37-18, but this is one Wellington had to grit out to advance.
