Jasper 42, Hayden 32

  • The Vikings trailed early and trailed late, but came through when it mattered most. The Vikings dropped four of the first 6 matches and trailed Hayden 21-9 before Jamie Burnam, Cole Carter, and Colin Langely put them in the lead 27-21. Falls by Harley Briscoe and Hudson Best for Hayden as well as a fall by Kortez Samuels of Jasper put the score even 33-33 heading into the final 2 matches. Ethan Caldwell and Antonio Nash took care of business as Jasper won the final two matches to punch their ticket to the finals on Friday.

Tallassee tops Gulf Shores 32-29 in a wild one

  • Back and forth match throughout … 6-0 for Gulf Shores, 10-6 Tallassee, 16-10 Gulf Shores, 20-16 Tallassee and on we went. Ultimately the two teams would finish with 7 wins each … Lucas Salcedo and Jackson Russ both won the final two matches for Gulf Shores, but neither could get the bonus and that would end up the difference. Tallassee had 2 falls and an injury default (6 each) and Gulf Shores had 2 falls.


January 12

  • Arab at Jasper (1:00 pm)

  • Hayden at Scottsboro (5:30 pm)

Hayden tops Scottsboro to punch their ticket to the 5A Final Four. Evan Phillips, Stephen Nelson, and Bentley Briscoe came up big to open the Hayden lead 27-12 after 8 matches. Falls from Isaac O’Rear at 184, Griffen Price at 220, and a forfeit at 106 by Harley Briscoe sealed the win for the Wildcats.

Jasper used a string of 6 wins after trailing 18-6 to take control of their quarterfinal against Arab. Ethan Caldwell started things off with a fall at 126 over Aiden Wooten, Antonio Nash, Jaylen Martinez, David Baradell, Garrett Caldwell, and Carter Reed put the Vikings up 34-18 with 4 matches remaining. Jamie Burnam’s 7-2 decision of Conner Knighten stopped Arab’s comeback bid and the Vikings won 43-27 to advance.

January 13

  • Beauregard at Gulf Shores (4:30 pm)

Gulf Shores dismantles Beauregard 66-15. After a close first 4 matches ... Gulf Shores took over and shut down Beauregard the rest of the way. Gulf Shores now awaits the winner of Tallassee and Elberta.


January 14

  • Elberta at Tallassee (2:00 pm)

Tallassee dominates Elberta to punch their ticket to the 5A Final 4.
