State of the Program ... Brantley County (GA)
Brantley County (GA)
There is a lot to like about the returning group for Coach Edwards crew at Brantley County. The team had 6 conference champs in 2021 and even though some have graduated - the Herons return a solid group. The team is led by Senior Mekhi Martin who had 2 wins at the 2021 State Tournament … he will be hunting for a spot on the podium in 2022. Martin is joined by returning State Qualifiers Griffen White, Tre Stone, Ian Nielson, Willy Brantley, and Troy Roberts.
The Herons will look to Tre Stone to place at state and become Brantley County’s first ever four time state qualifier in 2022. Keep an eye on Sophomore James Wainwright - he has been working hard in the off-season and will look to make an impact in 2021-2022 as will incoming freshmen Jonathan Westberry and Colby McCarty. Senior Sarah Williamson is looking to solidify her Heron grappling career and become a state placer as she already has more wins than any female in school history. If the other weights fall in place - Brantley County has a chance to make some noise in 2021-2022.
