South Dade Adds Another Ring

South Dade dominated on their way to another state duals title this past Saturday. The Bucs had a little “unfinished business” after coming up just sort a year ago (losing to Palmetto Ridge in the finals) … and it was obvious that wasn’t going to happen this year. South Dade outscored their 5 opponents 312-40 including a dominant 44-9 win over Osceola in the finals.

In the final dual, South Dade got a tough 7-5 decision from their returning State Champ Ansel Cervantes at 195 before taking a double forfeit at 220 (choosing to bump Sawyer Bartelt up to meet Vansickle - who Osceola had bumped up). Bartelt and Morales each got falls and South Dade was off an running … leading 15-0. South Dade won the next 5 wins to put the dual out of reach as the dual finally moved to the Kowboy hammers. That said, Anderson Heap, Cooper Haase, and Gunner Holland - all returning State Champs for Osceola had their hands full. Heap won in a tiebreaker over Misha Arbos at 145, Haase downed Gavin Balameceda in a tough 6-3 decision and Gunner Holland got the takedown and a 3-1 win to down Lawrence Rosario at 170. Otherwise this was all South Dade.
